Haunted

It was a dark, full moon night. The heat of the day had subsided and the sky had turned into a serene shade of purple and blue.
It was late and I decided to wrap up the day by going to sleep. As I climbed into the bed, the fan seemed to slow down. 'Must be the voltage tripping', I thought to myself and tried to sleep. There was a wild wind howling outside and the trees seemed to make eerie, looming shadows on the window panes. I rolled on the other side of the bed and closed my eyes. The clock went tick- tock as I counted the seconds. The pages of my books were flying open and some pencils fell down.
I was drenched in sweat and then realized that the fan had completely gone off. Things were getting suspicious. If the fan was not working, then how did the pages of my books fly open? Alarmed, I got up and sat on my bed, opening my eyes as wide as possible.
That's when I heard it. A soft whistling sound which was accompanied by a laugh reached my ears. I slowly crawled out of bed and I could hear the delighted squeals of a child. He stammered the words, 'Ma- ma' and there was a gasp of the child's mother. She said, 'Say it again!' but within a split second, there was a loud crash and a helpless cry emerged out from the mother.
I rushed outside to see if there was anyone but the lifeless, dark and eerie night sky stared back at me. And then, I saw two stars come out of nowhere and they seemed to get closer to each other.

I still keep looking at the night skies at times, with the hope of finding those two miraculous twin stars, but I've not yet succeeded.
