Facade

Why is it that we always take things at face value and refuse to delve into the more intricate details?

We come across so many people everyday from different walks of life and despite knowing that they have been through hardships, we tend to judge them based on their appearance. We can't accept ourselves for who we really are because for us, the most desirable thing is that which we lack. We don't act like ourselves because we are afraid of not being able to mingle with a bunch of people unlike us.
We want to be understood but how can we expect that if we don't bare our vulnerable self to the other person? We want to be loved but are we loved for "ourselves" or who we make up to be "ourselves"? We want to be respected but is it for forced acts which we perform consciously with the idea of gaining something?

We look down upon the people who are bold enough to be themselves. We are scared to break stereotypes as the fear of being judged always prevails, as we have been doing since a tender age. We don't even want to try and do something different because our own chains of immoral beliefs keep us held back. We burn with the fire of selfishness and turn a blind eye to our faults which the facade of our personality has.

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”
― Elisabeth Kubler Ross
