Fire
The doctor was carefully explaining to Vysana how Rehasya should be taken care of after being discharged from the hospital while Irshya was sitting next to Rehasya's bed, stroking her head and playing with the stray strands. "You just won't die, will you? Right since when I've known you, I've known what pain is. What loss is. What betrayal is. What torture is. But I know that revenge is sweet too." Her hand slipped to Rehasya's neck and she was contemplating where to choke her so that she would die without further ado. She began to scratch Rehasya's neck with her dangerously long nails and slowly went on to bite her hand. Irshya's sight fell on the doctor's shadow and she readjusted her hand to it's original position.
Rehasya's eyes fluttered open.
Vysana rushed into the room when he came to know that Rehasya had regained consciousness and showered her with kisses. Rehasya's bitten hand stretched out to wipe his tears and she asked him why she was in the hospital. He looked at the doctor and after a reassuring nod from him, replied to her saying that they had come for a check up. Rehasya smiled at Irshya and embraced her. Irshya returned the hug.
Vysana, meanwhile, was bothered about the bite mark on Rehasya's hand but decided to think about it later.
Irshya excused herself to go to the washroom. She locked herself and scrambled through her handbag to produce a box of Hepicap pills. She popped five of them altogether and within minutes, was retching. She vomited all over the mirror and started crying in frustration. She pulled out her hair and smeared makeup all over her face. She had been so sure of her planning ; how could she possibly fail? Luck always walked hand in hand with Rehasya and left Irshya in the chasm of desperation and hopelessness.
Her life had no meaning. As she watched the vomit drip from the corners of the mirrors and the stench began to choke her to death, she took out a paper and a lighter from her wallet. "Love has no rules", she muttered to herself and set fire to a picture of Rehasya and Vysana together and started cleaning the vomit with the tissues.
She cackled with delight when the fire had burnt down, leaving Rehasya's picture in ashes.
