Red Velvet
Rehasya had come across the heart throb
cricketer Vysana when she was twenty one and had gone to watch a match with her
friends. Vysana was the captain of his team and she was instantly smitten by
him when he hit three sixes in a row. His team had won and she had gone to
congratulate him but was greeted by a rude shock when he spilled energy drink
on her new white dress. He apologized profusely but she wouldn’t accept it and
stormed away. However, Vysana couldn’t bear the sight of such a pretty girl
being angry at him. Her friends gushed when he asked them her name and they
whispered in his ear, ‘Rehasya’.
The name was etched in his mind.
Later that evening, Rehasya got a call from an
unknown number. When she picked up the receiver, a husky male voice emerged and
it said, ‘Rehasya. I am so sorry for what happened today. Open the door.
There’s a surprise for you.’ Curious, Rehasya opened the door and there he was
standing, with a bouquet of red roses. Rehasya sniffed and Vysana looked at her
with an apologetic face. He asked her in a timid voice, ‘Would you like to come
for dinner with me?’ Rehasya slammed the door at his face.
As he was walking
away, the door creaked open and Rehasya said, ‘I just went in to get my purse.’
They spent the whole night chatting away like
old friends. Vysana shooed off paparazzi and shocked Rehasya by crooning an old
Hindi love song for her which was greeted by a standing ovation by the other
diners. The meal didn’t matter much and Rehasya was laughing heartily. Time
seemed to fly by and it was one in the morning when Vysana dropped Rehasya
home. Before going, Vysana kissed her hand and said, ‘Rehasya. Let me in on all
your secrets. I really like you.’
And he walked away leaving Rehasya blushing
like a teenager.
