Change

"Why don't you straighten your hair? I think you would look much better.", said a friend of mine when I had left my hair open at an event. I had been extremely busy that day and my hair had been the least of my worries so I hadn't bothered tying it up. The second I reached the venue, people cast me suspicious looks and stared at my hair. My hair lay till my shoulders, with uneven strands peeking out from here and there and it's various colours giving it the look of a block of wood. It curled up at the bottom and some strands were scattered all over my face. It puffed up like a bush, as my friends fondly call it, and it was the centre of attraction.
After a couple of weeks, I trimmed my hair and the hairdresser had blow dried it to make it appear straight temporarily. I went to my friend's house and she didn't recognise me, with the straight bangs falling on my face. She was perplexed and asked my name. On hearing the reply, she was shocked and laughed off the gravity of the blunder she had made by not identifying her friend.
So, the world may tell you thousands of things but, why change yourself for the sake of others? Who knows, maybe the person for whom you changed, will not be able to recognise you anymore?
